Hello there Pastor Ed, I hope you did get some good quality rest on your day off. I know that hectic modern life doesn't put a lot of respect. I find that very unfortunate, and I am glad you are leading a balanced life.
For me, the balance of the Benedictine life is the one that is most conducive to my spiritual growth. St. Benedict placed special emphasis on the living balance of work, rest and prayer in living an empowered Christian life. Benedictine Monastics and Nuns still embrace these values today,growing closer to Christ in their everyday lives.
Basically, I suppose, it comes down to: we can't serve Jesus effectivly if we are worn out and exhausted.
