Well, after a long vacation from blogging, I have been asked if I might keep a blog on our trip to Sun Valley, California and our first Shepherd's Conference. By the use of "our" I am not referring to my family, but rather to our Elder, Jase and myself. Back in the Fall we "played" around with the idea of going and thanks to some frequest flyer miles and the generosity of family of our members who live near the area, we are soon to be on route.
Our flight will leave about 2:05 pm (CT) and we will arrive at LAX around 3:35 pm (PT). Oh, that it was only to be a one hour flight (it is really about 3 1/2. We are meeting up with a good friend and pastor, Bryan Ryan, of Berachah Bible Church near Atlanta, GA. What a blessed time of fellowship we are looking forward to, not only with Bryan, but with others that we have yet to meet.
For Jase and me, this will be not only our first Shepherd's Conference, but in the Lord's gracious providence, we will also be blessed to stay over on Sunday morning to hear John MacArthur speak.
By way of this blog, I hope (may miss a day) to keep you all not only up-to-date concerning the basics of our trip and status, but perhaps (Lord willing) to extend to you some of the insights that we are gleaning from this ripe time of study in God's Word.
May the Lord be praised and glorified in all our lives.
Psalm 145:9-12
9 The LORD is good to all, And His mercies are over all His works. 10 All Your works shall give thanks to You, O LORD, And Your godly ones shall bless You. 11 They shall speak of the glory of Your kingdom And talk of Your power; 12 To make known to the sons of men Your mighty acts And the glory of the majesty of Your kingdom.
Soli Deo Gloria,
Ed
